About Judge Mary Tarantelli
Mary Tarantelli was born and raised in Chemung County. Mary lives with her husband and daughter in Big Flats. She has been a part of the Chemung County legal community for 37 years. While she primarily practiced family law representing children, parents and grandparents, she also served Chemung County as an Assistant District Attorney.
Over the past three decades Mary has specialized in Family Law and Children’s Rights. She has served as an Attorney for the Child, Chemung County Liaison for the 3rd Department Office of Attorneys for Children and currently sits on the Advisory Board for the 3rd Departments Office of Attorneys for Children.
Judge Tarantelli’s election to the Chemung County Family Court Bench in 2014 was a natural progression as the result of her experience and presence in Family Court.
Since taking the Bench in 2015, Mary has helped to guide Chemung County Family Court to be recognized as a hardworking, judicially responsible court, chosen for many of the New York State Unified Court’s pilot programs as well as asked to share their success with other Family Courts throughout the State. Mary was appointed to and continues to be the Supervising Family Court Judge for the ten counties in the 6th Judicial District as well as an Acting Supreme Court Judge for Chemung County.
